Where to Eat and Drink near Once
There is now, officially, a really good selection of foodie spots in our local neighbourhood. Here are Anna’s favourite picks in order of the day:
Breakfast
Le Swine. You can’t beat a bacon sandwich, really you can’t, and these guys KNOW bacon sandwiches. I love the slightly Wes Anderson vibe in here, and what is it about sitting in a leather seated booth that makes you feel like you are in a movie? I could so easily imagine George Clooney walking in and ordering a sandwich. I want to be there when that happens.

Coffee
I have to admit that I’m not a coffee person (I am a tea person, Lindy is most definitely a coffee person). BUT that being said, I have it on very good authority that the best coffee in this part of London can be found at Level Crossing Records. This record shop with a big following is also the place I go for a cup of tea when meeting a friend for a run and sometimes we don’t make the run… because there is such a lovely chilled vibe with good tunes playing. Plus their instagram account is funny.

Lunch
Culver + Nelson. This will come as no surprise to those who know us because if I’m not in the shop or studio, I can generally be found at Culver + Nelson buying a salad or sandwich or bottle of wine for dinner. The lovely Sally who owns the deli / shop has become a trusted source of information about seasonal food and wines, plus fresh bagels on a Friday AND the beautifully salty, oily almonds - you will wish you had never tried them.

Afternoon Tea
Robin Cafe - I love their fresh juices and fresh lemon ginger teas, my family has also been known to have the odd Massaman curry for lunch, too (eat in or take away). The lovely staff here have always been a hit with my children (and dog), which means it’s always been a hit with me.

Also definitely worth a mention here is Orange Pekoe - it’s a family favourite for breakfast, lunch and cake options. The breakfast smoothies are great as is, obviously, the tea. If I want to impress someone I will take them to Orange Pekoe.

A Glass of Wine
Harty’s is the ultimate local wine bar, whose proprietors seem to know what you want before you even walk through the door. It’s perfect for meeting friends, a cheeky date night and it’s a great size for a private party. I love this place run by two lovely people, and feel very lucky to have it so close by.

Dinner
The Waterman’s Arms is my favourite for dinner. They have interesting dishes, always seasonal, always inventive, and I love that you choose from the specials board of fresh fish or meat cuts depending on what you fancy and how many there are in your party., it feels sort of effortless. In the summer it’s a super nice place to sit outside on the terrace looking over to the river. In winter is has a cosy and warm vibe as all good pubs should. It’s not cheap but you get what you pay for, so works well for a special occasion.
